Wooden parts of Lappset equipment
PEFC-certified Nordic pine is an ecological and user-friendly material
The wood material is PEFC-certified Nordic pine. In frame posts, the strong heartwood is turned outwards, which strengthens the durability of the post. Glue-laminated timber does not suffer from moisture variation as much as solid wood, which allows the wood to retain its shape over time. The wood used in Lappset products has a warmth to the touch and strength to last.
Negative carbon footprint - choice for a better future
Aside from durability, wood is an environmentally friendly material. It has a negative carbon footprint. The Nordic pine used in Lappset products is felled from commercial forests close to Lappset HQ in Finland. Due to PEFC-certification, the wood is guaranteed to be ecologically sourced and the factory's choice to use green energy has a significant impact on the environment.

Metal components in Lappset equipment
Lappset products come with sturdy and stylish metal parts. Our top choice is carbon steel with LappCoat finishing, ensuring enduring quality. Additionally, Lappset uses anodized or painted aluminum. Also galvanized steel and stainless steel, although these options are less common.
All metal components are of the highest quality, offering excellent weather resistance and a polished appearance. The metal components of Lappset products without LappCoat finishing still undergo through process of protection, such as hot dip galvanizing. Furthermore, all metal components are recyclable.
LappCoat – metal surface treatment made to last
LappCoat is a special coating method for metal components, created by Lappset. We developed this method with a focus on meeting the specific needs of playground and outdoor gym equipment. The innovation of LappCoat involved extensive research and development, helping us carefully determine the production stages, the chemicals involved, and the thickness of the coating.
The stages of LappCoat surface treatment
The LappCoat method ensures top-notch protection against corrosion, meeting environmental class C4-H standards.
- We begin with a base treatment, roughening the steel surface through shotblasting.
- Before priming, the surface undergoes pretreatment to remove grease and dirt, enhancing corrosion resistance.
- The pre-treated surface receives a primer and a layer of powder paint, following the paint manufacturer’s guidelines for film thickness.
- Additional paint layers are applied on top, meeting the specifications provided by the paint manufacturer.
Lappset LappCoat coating process stands out due to our meticulous methods and stringent quality control. Every detail in each stage of the process has undergone thorough auditing.

High-pressure laminate panels (HPL)
We use sturdy and durable high-quality panels made of high-pressure laminate (HPL). The thickness of the panels varies according to its purpose. The basic rules are:
- 20 mm: floors
- 15 mm: climbing walls, activity walls, start off-plates of slides, hand rails and roofs
- 10 mm: play panels and decorative walls.
These colours below comprises also the wooden slatted walls of Finno.

Ropes and nets
All the ropes and nets we use are steel reinforced. The cruciform joints are of stainless steel. The rope fasteners are made of strong plastic, and specially designed link fasteners are used in joints exposed to major angle changes.
Fitness battling ropes 081255M
Square braided black polyamide, diameter 32mm, length 15,7m. Shrink-on handles at the ends and 2pcs anti-theft locking blocks. Battling rope is not steel reinforced as it would affect the usability.

Rubber slabs and mats
Bonded rubber shred slabs
For part of its product range Lappset uses slab components made of bonded rubber shred, consisting of recycled rubber granules glued together with weather-resistant polyurethane adhesive. Some of these components use a combination of bonded rubber shred and natural rubber (EPDM).
Rubber mats
EPDM rubber granule mat on platforms and climbing surfaces improves the grip and therefore the usability.

Plastic components, slides, tube slides and tunnels
Ball joints of metal products
The ball joints and panel fastenings of the frame are made of fibreglass-reinforced polyamide plastic for outdoor use. They have high temperature and weather tolerance and impact resistance.
Pumptrack plastic surface
Plastic surface is made from durable polyethene, which provides solid surface and is highly weather resistant.
Plastic slide
The high-quality slide is made of MD-PE plastic. The plastic used for the slide meets the REACH requirements (EU regulation concerning Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation & restriction of Chemicals) and does not contain any compounds hazardous to health. The plastic slide is maintenance free and impact-resistant, and remains cool in the sun. The grooves along the middle of the slide help it dry faster after rain. Thanks to its light weight, the UV-protected plastic slide is easy to transport and install.
Tube slides and tunnels
The tunnels and tube slides are made of plastic intended for outdoor use with high temperature and weather tolerance and impact resistance.
